The Lhota Office of Alumni Career Management is devoted to assisting Ohio State alumni in life long career management and professional development through individual consultation, relevant resources, and career programming.
Reporting to the Director of the Lhota Office of Alumni Career Management (OACM), the Consultant advises alumni on career development, employment and career transition in individual and group settings. He/she administers, facilitates and interprets self-assessments; manages logistics of career programs to include development, implementation and facilitation; and assists with the creation and maintenance of reports that illustrate client use, satisfaction, learning outcomes, and program value.
The Consultant will work autonomously and prioritize a high volume of work in a team-oriented environment, maintain knowledge of current employment resources and career development/industry trends, is expected to collaborate with colleagues from a variety of disciplines, have familiarity with and be able to utilize MS Office products and a Customer Relationship Management system, be skilled in managing and organizing their work and time due to shifting priorities and demands, provide exceptional customer service, uphold client confidentially, and have the ability to work with diverse populations.
He/she is expected to exhibit behaviors associated with the Office of Advancementís core competencies: Leadership, Continuous Improvement, Collaboration and Teamwork, and Communication/Interpersonal Effectiveness.
50% Advises alumni on career development, employment and career transitions in individual and group settings via in-person, on the phone or Skype; provides career coaching/skill development advice (resume review/critique, interviewing, job searching techniques, salary negotiations, social media optimization); administers, facilitates and interprets career assessment instruments; and maintains knowledge of current employment resources and career development/industry trends.
40% Develops, facilitates and manages the logistics of departmental career programming; uses Qualtrics, Excel, and BBIS software to track attendance, generate reports, creates follow-up attendee surveys that measure program/event satisfaction and learning outcomes; and partners with Advancement Events Office, Advancement Communications, Outreach and Engagement, and other university colleagues to determine, promote to, and execute programming to the appropriate audience. Manages the evaluation of success through the creation and maintenance of reports that illustrate client use, satisfaction, learning outcomes and program value.
10% Other duties as assigned to include cross training in the management of social media, webpage resources and job board oversight.
Required: Masterís degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; 3 years of experience providing individual and group career coaching and program development to a diverse adult population; Qualified to interpret MBTI and Strong Interest Inventory assessments; Knowledge of and experience working with career resources and related technology; Ability to occasionally travel and work evenings and/or weekends.
Desired: 5 years of experience providing individual and group career coaching and program development to a diverse adult population; Familiarity with and ability to use relevant social media venues.
